Download the application (http://adium.im/) and install it as usual. Click on “Preferences” in the menu, then click on the “+” in “Accounts” and select “Jabber”.

Leave the “Jabber ID” and “Password” boxes empty and click on “Register New Account”.

Chose “macjabber.com” as your server and click on “Request New Account”.

Chose a username (your Jabber ID with the ending ‘@macjabber.com’) and a password.

You’ll get a “Registration Successful” notice if the username is still available. If it is not, you’d get an error notice.

Adium then wants to connect your account. Type your password.

Because the server has a certificate in the name of “macjabber.de” (not “macjabber.com) you will see this notice.

Click continue, then open “Preferences” –> “Accounts”, and click on “Edit”. Next up, go to “Options”, chose “macjabber.de” as “Connect Server” and click ok. The account can go online now.

Contacts can easily be added to your list. Just click on “Add Contact”, chose the type of account and then the Jabber ID that you want to add.
